Reaching Today’s Consumers Through Mobile Marketing

Advertising using commercials are a thing of the past. People are carrying around their cell phones everywhere they go. Research has shown that most people receive a text message within five minutes. What other kind of marketing gets that quick of a response?

The goal of all companies is to have their message read. Mobile marketing ensures that the message gets read by sending a SMS mobile message to the phone. This can be a few lines of text to say anything that the company wants.

SMS mobile messaging is delivered within seconds of sending, so the marketing is much more instantaneous. SMS is relatively affordable and the message is fast. Restaurant owners can send out specials to their customer list on the same night that business is slow. When a text appears, it helps consumers make a quick decision about dinner or any other plans for spending money they may have had.

One of the newest trends in mobile marketing is that of the QR code. QR codes are those black and white graphic squares that are in almost every magazine. A person can download software to their phone that will enable them to read the QR code. It may contain an image, a link to a website, a coupon, or even register them on a company’s mailing list.

It doesn’t matter whether the company is small, large, or even non-profit – the possibilities are virtually endless with a QR code. A person can go into a salon, spot the QR code and automatically get on their mailing list. Or by strategically placing a coupon inside of a QR code within a magazine, it will get people to buy a certain product. With most people who have smart phones, QR codes are quite addictive.

The goal of all business owners and companies, then, is to get as many people as possible on their mailing lists. Utilizing the QR code will be the fastest, less obtrusive way to get people’s personal information.

Mobile marketing isn’t going to be going away anytime in the near future. People are getting fancier and more technologically advanced phones every day. People want their information now. No more waiting. So if companies want to communicate with the consumer, they’ll need to start considering mobile marketing.
